Dominique A's albums can be found in the alternative/rock Français section of many French record stores and not among the artists of the Varieté Française. For us, this is somewhat confusing at first. But if you know of the underground past of the singer from Nantes, this classification makes perfect sense. His indie fans also love him for his way of playing the guitar, which has more to do with US alternative than with the chanson scene. "L'horizon", his first album after changing from a major to an indie label, is another good example of this. The haunting and romantic atmosphere stems from impressions he gathered on a trip to Greenland. Perfect for Dominique A's clear voice and his yearning vocals.
