Mathieu Boogaerts

Europäischer Reggae arbeitet sich zu oft zu genau an den jamaikanischen Vorbildern ab. Boogaerts ging schon immer einen anderen Weg. Ein präsenter Off-Beat und sogar Dub-Effekte werden bei "Keyornew" exemplarisch mit Pop und Chanson zu einem einzigartigen Chanson-Reggae verschmolzen. Das Stück stammt von seinem wundervollen neuen Album "Michel", das auch in Deutschland bei Le Pop Musik erscheint. Es ist sein viertes, reifstes und raffiniertestes Werk. Zutiefst poetisch und von stiller Eleganz. Die Songs nahm Boogaerts übrigens zuerst auf sein Diktiergerät auf – der praktische Reisebegleiter bei seinen Besuchen in Berlin und Barcelona, den Entstehungsorten von "Michel".

Le Reggae europeen a souvent du mal à se détacher de l´idéal jamaïquain. Boogaerts a toujours fait sa route hors des sentiers battus. Dans le morceau „Keyornew“, le Off-Beat et les effets Dub font fondre de manière exemplaire les frontières avec la pop et la chanson en un morceau unique de chanson-reggae. Ce morceau est tiré de son merveilleux nouvel album „Michel“, qui en Allemagne est aussi une sortie Le Pop Musik. Il s´agit de son quatrième Opus, le plus mûr et le plus raffiné, profondément poétique et d´une élégance discrète. Les morceaux ont tout d´abord été enregistrés sur le dictaphone de Boogaerts, un compagnon de voyage très pratique lors de ses virées à Berlin et Barcelone, lieux qui ont vu la naissance de „Michel“.

Too often, European Reggae is too close to its Jamaican models. With Mathieu Boogaerts, however, things have always been different. On "Keyornew" he blends a steady off-beat and dub effects with pop and chanson elements to create a unique chanson-reggae. The song is taken from his wonderful new album "Michel", which will be released in Germany by Le Pop this autumn. "Michel" is Boogaerts fourth, most accomplished and most refined album, full of poetry and quiet elegance. The songs were first recorded on a dictating machine while living in Berlin and Barcelona.
